About Christine

Practice

Christine Kemp has worked in the area of land use for over 30 years, interfacing with clients, elected officials, and public agencies, to achieve her client’s goals, with an array of projects ranging from neighbor issues to multi-million dollar projects.

Her work includes subdivisions, use permits, water permits, lot line adjustments, certificates of compliance, historic resources, the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and Coastal Permits. Her working knowledge of the land use process and related agencies provides her clients with access and clarity to an otherwise complicated area of the law involving local, regional, and statewide land use regulations.

Background

Christine grew up on the Monterey Peninsula. And, with the area’s natural beauty and array of activities, she has been fortunate to continue to call it home.

Christine graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz, with Honors, attended the Monterey Institute of International Studies (now Middlebury College, Monterey Campus), and received her  Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD) law degree from the Monterey College of Law, where she was a Heisler Moot Court finalist and recipient of the Corpus Juris Secundum Award for academic achievement.

In addition to practicing law, Christine sits on the Board of the Carmel Bach Festival, chairing the Festival’s Annual Gala.  She has also served on the Boards of the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and the Salinas Valley Leadership Group.

Christine resides in Carmel with her husband and goldendoodle, enjoying the natural beauty of the areas’ coast, parks, and trails with both of them.
