On June 1, Sharilyn Payne presented on the topic “Conducting a Fair Workplace Investigation” along with Jason Resnick, WGA’s Senior VP and General Counsel. One of Ms. Payne’s specialties, workplace investigations are a complex challenge for employers, especially when prompted by suggestions of inappropriate employee conduct. The webinar gave important guidelines and cautions to help ensure fairness and prevent legal ramifications when possible. About 35 Human Resources professionals participated in the webinar.

Sharilyn Payne is an employment law attorney with more than 20 years of experience, and has been conducting workplace investigations for over 10 years. She conducts investigations in English and Spanish for a variety of industries including agriculture and hospitality. Her services also include wage and hour issues, classification of workers as independent contractors, exempt/non-exempt classification issues, wrongful termination, harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.
