On May 1st, 2020, Jennifer A. Mancera co-presented a webinar with Michaelle Stanford of TPO, a prominent human resources consulting and training firm. Ms. Mancera has been an HR expert for many years and recently joined Noland Hamerly’s Employment Law practice group. The webinar was sponsored by the Monterey County Business Council (MCBC), the Cal Coastal Small Business Development Council (SBDC), and the U.S. Small Business Administration, in collaboration with the County of Monterey and the City of Salinas.
The topic, Navigating Employee Return to Work, COVID-19 Implications, featured the rapidly-evolving federal and state Interim Paid Leave Laws that employers must understand and comply with in the challenging environment arising from the Coronavirus outbreak crisis. Additional sub-topics were Pandemic Unemployment Insurance, benefits for self-employed individuals and independent contractors, requirements for WARN/CalWARN notices, and planning to reopen businesses.
One week later, Ms. Mancera presented the webinar again in Spanish, with the translated title COVID-19 HR & Legal Issues. The Spanish version was generously sponsored by TPO, in addition to the sponsors for the English webinar. Over 130 individuals participated in the two webinars. Both presentations were offered as no-charge public services and the presenters donated their time. Recordings of each webinar are available on YouTube under Monterey County Business Council.
