Noland Hamerly Attorney Mike Masuda Featured in Panel Discussion on Mediation

On August 22, about 25 attorneys attended a continuing legal education (CLE) course presented by the Monterey County Women Lawyers Association (MCWLA) at the Community Justice Center in Seaside.  The subject, How to Successfully Navigate Mediation, was explored by three seasoned litigators, including Noland Hamerly’s Mike Masuda.  The presenting attorneys shared experiences gained from their extensive careers in navigating the world of alternative dispute resolution for a variety of cases. 

Discussion topics included: Determining the appropriate timing for pursuing mediation, Items to consider when choosing a mediator, Tips for presenting briefing and argument, Preparation of clients for mediation, Mediation demeanor and strategy, and Tips for finalizing a settlement at the mediation.  The course was presented in conjunction with the Monterey County Bar Association.

Mr. Masuda specializes in civil litigation, trial and appellate practice, arbitration and mediation, and has served as a mediator in over 100 cases.  He holds the highest “AV” rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and has been selected as a Northern California Super Lawyer every year from 2014 through 2019.  Mr. Masuda is an Adjunct Professor at Monterey College of the Law and he has also lectured at the University of California, Santa Cruz, California State University, Monterey Bay, the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School, and for numerous bar associations.
