About Leslie

Leslie Finnegan is a legal specialist in estate planning, trusts and probate law as certified by the State Bar of California. Her focus is on creating comprehensive estate plans for clients and assisting clients who are dealing with a death, whether that entails a probate, trust administration or small estate transfer. Leslie has over twenty-five years of litigation experience in the civil and probate courts, and her guidance reflects an emphasis on practicality, avoiding family conflict, avoiding litigation and instilling financial responsibility in young family members. She coordinates with financial planners, CPAs and professional fiduciaries to insure the best outcomes for the individuals and families she works with.

Leslie is particularly passionate about helping children, the elderly and the disabled. She specializes in practical planning for incapacity and responding to family emergencies, and she handles probate conservatorships, limited conservatorships and guardianships. She represents and advises family members, friends and professional fiduciaries who assist these vulnerable members of our community.

Leslie is a frequent speaker on estate planning and administration and the care of the cognitively disabled.

Leslie was born in Alabama and she lived in Missouri and New Jersey before attending college at the University of Delaware, where she received a BA in Psychology and Women’s Studies in 1983. She obtained her JD at University of California Law, San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings College of the Law) in 1988, and she practiced law in San Francisco until she moved to Monterey in 1997. After attending the Iyengar Yoga Institute and teaching yoga for five years, Leslie joined NHEH in 2001.

Leslie believes strongly in giving back to the community that she has called home for the last 26 years. She has served on the following boards since relocating to Monterey County – Iyengar Yoga Institute, San Carlos School PTO, Legal Services for Seniors, Carmel Foundation, Monterey County Bar Association and Harmony at Home. In her free time, Leslie and her husband Tony travel and spend time with their two adult children, two grandchildren and two doodles, and Leslie hikes, writes and practices yoga.
